Player Responsibilities
| Practices | Fall Practices: Many coaches start practicing in the fall, shortly after tryouts are complete. These practices are not mandatory, but it is recommended that a player try to make as many as they can to keep up and or enhance their skill set with the team. Winter Warehouse Practices: Each year the Heat organization tries to obtain a warehouse and develop a schedule to allow each team to begin their seasons first practices in mid-January. Each team is given at least two time spots per week to hold a practice. These practices are not mandatory, but are strongly recommended that the player attend as many as possible to prepare for the upcoming season. Players that are not able to attend these practices, can and will fall behind. Practices on or after April 1 of each Season ARE MANDATORY! This is the official start of the Heat Baseball season. Only God, Family & School come before baseball practice. No other sport is to take the place of or come before a baseball practice! Failure to attend a practice, will mean a benched player for the next game. Failure to attend a practice, will make a player fall behind for game play. Please talk with your coach if you have a G, F or S excuse prior to missing a practice. Players should also work on their own to enhance their hitting, catching and throwing. Some players attend off season camps or work with an independent coaches (not associated with the Heat Organization) on hitting, pitching or fielding. Come prepared to all practices and games! ●No matter the temperature on the playing field or in the warehouse, a player should always bring a water bottle. ●Players should wear appropriate clothing for practice. Shorts, shirt, pants, socks, cleats for outdoor, running shoes for indoor, under armor, sweatshirts, whatever is most appropriate for the conditions they are practicing in. ●Uniforms are only worn for scrimmages, games and tournaments. ●Failure to wear a uniform for a game or forgetting any part of your uniform for a game, will make the player unable to participate on the field in any capacity. Having a bat bag to carry your glove, bat(s), batting glove, helmet, bat weights, water bottle, protein bars, etc is a key to keeping a players equipment organized and ready for practices and games. |
| Games |
Game Schedules: Game Schedule are usually completed by each coach by the first week of February for a given season. Game and Tournament schedules are forwarded to all parents by the coaches by mid-February for a given season. Those schedules will be posted on the web site by end of February. Game Attendance: - MANDATORY Games are mandatory for players. Failure to attend a game, can show lack of commitment on the part of the player/family if there is not a valid excuse presented prior to the game. The number of players picked for each team is based on having all players available for all games and tournaments throughout the season. Vacation Plans during the Season: Baseball and vacations both occur during our precious and short summer. We strongly encourage arranging your vacation schedule around the baseball schedule. Teams are picked based on having all players available for all games. However, if you are planning a vacation during the Heat Season, please inform your coach as early as possible so that they can make the appropriate strategic player/play arrangements for the game or games the player might miss. |
